The International Labor Organization is known as a United Nations agency whose mission is to promote social and economic justice by setting international labor standards.
Founded in October 1919 within the framework of the Organization of Nations, it is the first and oldest specialized agency of the United Nations.
The ILO has 187 member states: 186 out of the 193 member states of the United Nations, in addition to the Cook Islands.
It is headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland, with around 40 field offices around the world, and has around 2,700 employees from more than 150 countries, of which 900 work on technical cooperation programs and projects.
